That painting formed part of a larger show of paintings with biblical subjects by Palmer originally shown in Portsmouth Cathedral in we think either 1958 or 1959. We are now delighted to collaborate with Portsmouth Cathedral to bring it back along with others made over subsequent years in what was an ongoing theme. This group of Lazarus themed artworks have been generously leant from Private Collections including one from the Towner Eastbourne and also from the Estate of Garrick Palmer, Garrick’s daughters Sarah, Emma and Vicky.
Portsmouth Cathedral will be hosting a number of events and related activities as follows:
Wednesday 21st February, for 5 weeks. Lent Course exploring death and resurrection in the Christian tradition based on the art exhibition, Lazarus Raised. Wednesday evenings, Bishop Kenneth Room, Portsmouth Cathedral, 6.30pm.
