THE FIVE - THE ARTISTS
The artists work with print, paper, ceramics, fibres and found objects to make 2D wall hung works and 3D sculptural pieces. Paper sculptures will sit alongside framed ceramic pieces and wall mounted prints. Through an exploration of colour, line, texture and surface in their innovative approaches, the artists produce works that push the boundaries and expectations of their chosen media. The elements of printmaking are frequently deconstructed, and there is an emphasis on surface decoration in ceramics. Collagraph plates are exhibited as works in their own right. Paper and ink take on new directions and association with found objects and materials. There are references throughout the exhibition to a sense of place, memory, time and landscape.
