Emily Maude lives in Brighton and has her studio based in her gorgeous home. Surrounded by the beautiful eclectic objects that inhabit her work. Imagined worlds are created with her heritage ceramic collections of antique fabrics and patterns either in gouache on handmade paper, or acrylic on glass, each one totally unique. Emily has sold her collections internationally to clients including Paul Smith, Anthropologie and Fragonard and many of her pieces are housed in private collections throughout the world.
They both delight in the pleasure of pattern and colour rejoicing in the vessels, platters and plates that appear in both their work. They share a love of Charleston, which Emily was often visiting with her mother from a very early age. The love of painting furniture with pattern and colour was very much a part of Jacqui’s life early on in her career, the special dresser created in the gallery for this exhibition celebrates Bloomsbury and the love of decoration.
