Kevin Dean has always had a fascination for ship’s figureheads and their startling graphic qualities. In 2008 Kevin began illustrating all of the figureheads on display in The National Museum of the Royal Navy, Portsmouth, for the book The Warship Figureheads of Portsmouth, written by Admiral David Pulvertaft, published in 2009. Other figureheads were also included that can be found in the Historic Dockyard or Gunwharf Quays, amounting to some 37 illustrations.
