Marco Livingstone is an art historian, writer and independent curator who has written extensively on post-war figurative painting and sculpture and particularly on Pop Art, on which subject he has also curated numerous exhibitions around the world. He first met Derek Boshier in early 1975 when he was researching Derek’s work, and that of his fellow students at the Royal College of Art between 1959 and 1962 - David Hockney, Allen Jones, R. B. Kitaj and Peter Phillips - for his Master’s thesis at the Courtauld Institute of Art. He and Derek have been friends now for over 40 years and he has written many times about Derek’s work of all periods and in the context of his contribution to the history of British Pop Art. Marco’s many publications include Pop Art: A Continuing History (1990) and monographs on Hockney, Kitaj, Jones, Patrick Caulfleid and Paula Rego.
