We are counting down to 1st December when we open the first door of the Art Advent Calendar 2022 in the Jack House Gallery window. Come along to celebrate the start of the Christmas season on Thursday Dec 1st 6-8pm when we also open 'Tales from the Dresser' a show of new collages & cutouts by Jacqui Mair in company for the first time with artworks by her daughter Emily Maude. Our first Art Advent Calendar at Jack House Gallery was December 2020 when the idea was suggested to me by artist Emily Maude and at very short notice we scrambled 25 local artists to produce artworks to a specific size & under a set price all with a broad theme of 'Red'. The Calendar coincided with yet another awful Covid lockdown and became a bright window of fun and intrigue for passers by, local school kids and the many people who followed the daily reveal on our social media platforms whilst unable to visit the Gallery in person.
We are delighted to reprise the Art Advent Calendar again this year with a new theme which is 'Night'. This time we invited artists to submit artworks to be judged 'blind' for selection by a panel comprising local artist & teacher Jacqui Mair & Curator of Art at Portsmouth City Museum Emily Worsdale. 25 wonderful artworks were selected & one will be revealed daily in the Gallery window with simultaneous postings on Social Media and the Gallery website and online shop.
