ART THROUGH GLASS

POTS ON PARADE!

A Window by Jacqui Mair
1st to 30th September 2021

Now booking WEEKEND WORKSHOP 25th & 26th September 2021

“It started with a carrot! A way to print something and make it useful. We used to make them - improvised vases - where I taught in France. Decorated delights to cover wine bottles to put tulips in, they signalled Spring. The vases really progressed - and a friend fell in love with the paper jugs printed with carrots and her love of colour and pattern and collage started a commission to fill a shop front.” Jacqui Mair 2021

Jacqui Mair’s Art Through Glass window starting 1st September is ‘Pots On Parade’ a veritable panoply of beautifully decorated pots, pitchers, jugs, jars, vases & vessels in all different shapes and sizes to bring you joy, art, collage and lots of lovely hand finished snipped, shaped, pasted paper. Also featuring a WEEKEND WORKSHOP of in person tutoring by the mistress of collage and paper patterning Jacqui Mair.

WEEKEND WORKSHOP ‘Jugs & Vases just for you!’

Ever wanted a jug or a vase that is special to you and never been able to find just the right colour, or the perfect shape and wanted an individual pattern that you fall in love with? Why not come and make your own in paper and create a personal unique vessel that’s your own!

Our theme for the weekend workshop is Vessels, and our starting point is domestic vessels - jugs, vases, pots, pitchers - for our collage weekend of printing and painting our own papers to produce a unique jug or vase. With jugs the shapes are endless and designs can be found either in our own homes or on the internet via Pinterest, antique collections, paintings of still lifes? They can be made purely decorative or can tell a story or recall a memory? Your jug or vase can be what you want it to be and it can be used! if you sign up for this course you will be encouraged to research ideas and designs and perhaps bring something in that you’d like to incorporate to make your vessel your own.

This course is suitable for all - beginners to experienced artists wanting to experiment and extend ideas with collage.

There will be 8 places available on this 2 days course:

DAY ONE 10.00 - 4pm with a lunch break
Our priority of day one is to understand the sorts of papers we may use, we will look at the ways to make personal collage papers on new and found papers through the gelli plates, also working with transfer drawing techniques and creating colour surfaces on paper.  Investigation of vessel shapes and preparation of design /s for Day Two.

DAY TWO 10.00 – 4pm with a break for lunch
Review of the papers produced, selection and preparation for Vessel One , drawing and cutting out of vessels, cut and pasting designs on the front and back, stitching of the vessels on the sewing machine to complete the project.

The cost for the 2 day course is £160 with all materials included as are tea, coffee and light refreshments. Southsea Blooms will have a variety of flowers that you can purchase to complete you own unique jug.
